This Red squirrel design is truly one of a kind and a real labour of love.
This year l set out to take on more ambitious embroidery pieces and this Red squirrel is based on a photograph by a British photographer. It’s been designed using a thread painting technique using 1 thread at a time to add lots of tiny details and colours.

Squirrels have always been a source of fun and amusement in my family as my dad was convinced they use to terrorise his garden digging it up regularly. But the Red ones which can be found from his birth place on the Isle of Wight were the good ones. And having seen some on a recent visit, l couldn’t agree more!

This Red squirrel brought me so much joy to work on l honestly couldn’t put it down. It took in excess of 30 hours and every one with a smile on my face, so its truly been made with love.

The Red squirrel was embroidered on a 6inch frame. Embroidered onto beautiful cotton fabric and using DMC embroidery threads.
