Adult Embroidery upcycling workshop – 15th April 2024

£30.00£37.00

Beginners Up-cycling Embroidery Workshop – The perfect way to revamp an item in your wardrobe with a bit of embroidery.

Bring along some of your old knitwear or t-shirts and we’ll show you how to add embroidery to give them a new lease of life. Photos are of some of my favourite up-cycling projects to give you some inspiration.

I’m back after a few busy months with a beginners embroidery workshop for adults at Surbiton Hill Methodist church.

Dates & Times: Monday evening 7.30-9.30pm, 15th April 2024

Who is this for:

This class is perfect for embroidery beginners or those with more embroidery experience and would like to know what stitches are best for clothing.

What will we cover in this embroidery workshops:

We’ll start with covering all the things to consider when stitching on clothing; wovens and knitted items.

I’ll then take you through all the stitches that will look great wash after wash and those that are best avoided.

You can choose from a selection of stick and stitch patches with my designs on to revamp your garment and l will take you through how to use these too.

We will make a start redesigning a project of your choice and you will leave with all the threads and knowledge you need to complete your garment.

If you’re bringing an item with moth holes or holes l can also show you some simple and very effective darning techniques.

What is included:

A full kit with all materials needed: 4 or 6″ wooden hoop, DMC threads, Embroidery needle, needle threader and stick and stitch patterns where necessary. Also included will be written up instructions and video guides so you can recap in your own time. I like to add these as l know it’s so easy to get home and when you get the kit out to do a bit, you can’t quite remember the stitch!

I will bring this all with me on the evening.

Optional extras – Janome 9cm scissors can be purchased and popped in your kit if you would like a pair of your own.

However l have plenty to borrow if you would like too. Some people like to stitch using a hoop stand. This is completely optional. So if you have one you can bring it or I have around 3 that can be borrowed on the evening. If you are really keen to get one of your own please let me know and l can send through some links for recommended ones.

Additional information:

At Surbiton Hill Methodist church, we have a lovely spacious room which also has it’s own bathroom so no need to leave.
We have full use of the kitchen so can make teas and coffees and l will provide snacks (healthy and naughty!)
Full address of the venue is: 39 Ewell Road, Surbiton, KT6 6AF
I’m really excited for this fun class. Katherine 🙂
