Over the Easter holidays l’m running a fun embroidery and crafty class for 9-14 year olds.
Location – Surbiton Hill Methodist church – 11th April 1-4pm
So if you have a crafty kids that would like to learn some stitching or learn new stitches they haven’t done before, then l’d love to see them.
As a tween/teen l loved making things l could wear. So with that in mind l thought we could do a little project on some lilac or cream tote bags.
These workshops are suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience of hand sewing too.
During the workshop l’ll will be introduce a range of beginner hand embroidery stitches, starting with some easier ones and these will build up as your confidence grows (more for the older and more confident stitchers).
➡️ I will work with each child to design the front and they can choose the thread colours of their choice and a design that inspires them too.
I will be on hand to help them design their tote bags and some spare fabric to practice their stitches before adding it to their design. Stitches l have included in the samples include: Back stitch, chain stitch, lazy daisies, french knots, fly stitch and some other surface decoration.
Each child will be given a kit which includes everything you need to complete your embroidered hoop. The kit includes a booklet of instructions on each stitch too, so you can continue stitching at home.
You’ll receive the kit with all materials on the day.
At Surbiton Hill Methodist church, we have a lovely spacious room which also has it’s own bathroom so no need to leave.
I provide snacks and drinks for the children.
Katherine the teacher is fully DBS checked and has been teaching embroidery to children for many years now.
