Beginners Embroidery Workshop – The perfect course to learn and perfect plenty of embroidery stitches to get you started with this wonderful craft.
I’m back after a few busy months with a beginners embroidery workshop for adults at Surbiton Hill Methodist church.
Dates & Times: Monday evenings 7.30-9.30pm, 22nd and 29th April 2024
Who is this for:
I have designed a project using my all time best selling beginners embroidery kit – My Bumble Bee. The workshops will be perfect for those that have never done any embroidery before and also those with more experience. Each week we will cover various stitches for the bee and flowers and there will be an option to simplify or level up (stumpwork for example) for those wanting a bit more of a challenge or wanting to learn some new techniques.
Bees really are lovely to embroider!
What will we cover in this embroidery workshops:
Week 1 – Getting started, splitting threads, back stitch, stem stitch, satin stitch and lazy daisies. We will also cover various top embroidery tips for a beautiful finish.
Week 2 – Recap on the stitches from wk1, brick stitch, basket weave, french knots and fishbone stitch. I will bring a selection of colours for you to choose from so the flower design can be adapted to suit your preference. We will also cover how to finish the back of the hoop and other stitches if you would like too.
As in all of my workshops, if there are stitches you’ve seen that you would like to learn, bring along a photo or look at my samplers and l’m happy to show you.
What is included:
A full kit with all materials needed: 6″ wooden hoop, DMC threads, Various needles, needle threader, cotton fabric with design pre-printed, felt to back your hoop and ribbons to finish. Also included will be written up instructions and video guides so you can recap in your own time. I like to add these as l know it’s so easy to get home and when you get the kit out to do a bit, you can’t quite remember the stitch!
I will bring this all with me for week 1 and you will need to bring it with you for wk 2 so we can continue.
Optional extras – Janome 9cm scissors can be purchased and popped in your kit if you would like a pair of your own. However l have plenty to borrow if you would like too. Some people like to stitch using a hoop stand. This is completely optional. So if you have one you can bring it or I have around 3 that can be borrowed on the evening. If you are really keen to get one of your own please let me know and l can send through some links for recommended ones.
